An Indonesian pilgrim became the topic of discussion on social networking sites, after a video clip spread documenting the moment he entered a tent designated for women during the Hajj season, to present a red rose to his wife as an expression of his love for her, in a scene that sparked widespread interaction between those who saw it as a nice emotional situation, and those who considered it inappropriate behavior in this place and circumstance.
The man appeared in the video entering the tent where a number of women were sitting, and some of them were sleeping, before he went to his wife and presented her with a red rose, amid laughter from a number of attendees and a clear reaction to the situation.
The clip quickly spread across social media platforms, with some followers calling him the “romantic pilgrim,” considering that what he did was a spontaneous expression of love between a couple, especially in a spiritual and humanitarian atmosphere that brings together millions of Muslims during the Hajj season.
On the other hand, the behavior sparked criticism from other users, who saw that the entry of a man into a tent designated for women was not consistent with the privacy of the place, nor with the controls of behavior during the performance of rituals, considering that expressing feelings should not exceed the limits of politeness and respect for private spaces.
One of the activists wrote in a comment on the video: “When there is no literature or knowledge, things become like this,” referring to the objection to the pilgrim’s behavior inside the tent.
The controversy raised by the video reflects the sensitivity of dealing with personal situations during the Hajj season, where human feelings intersect with the sanctity of the place and the privacy of pilgrims.
