Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam received the US Ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa, where they discussed the latest regional developments and developments related to the situation in the south, in addition to preparations for the upcoming meeting in Washington this week.
During the meeting, President Salam stressed the need to exert serious pressure on Israel to stop the ongoing attacks and violations, in order to stabilize the ceasefire and prevent the deterioration of the security situation in the south.
The discussion also addressed the atmosphere of the upcoming Lebanese-American-Israeli meeting in Washington, in light of continuing international efforts to contain the escalation and prevent the southern front from sliding into a broader confrontation.
The meeting comes at a time when the southern border is witnessing continuous escalation, with the continuation of Israeli raids and artillery shelling, targeting a number of southern towns, despite political and diplomatic efforts aimed at maintaining the calm.
The official Lebanese move also falls within the process of intensive communications with the American side and the countries concerned, with the aim of pressuring to stop the Israeli attacks and maintain stability, in conjunction with the ongoing efforts to make the expected negotiations in Washington a success.
