Israeli army spokeswoman Ella Wawiyeh announced via “X” that, a short time ago, Israeli forces fired interceptor missiles towards a suspicious air target that was monitored in the army’s area of operations in southern Lebanon, noting that the results of the interception operation are still under examination.

She explained that the target “did not penetrate the state’s territory,” stressing that the sirens were not activated in accordance with the approved policy.

In the same context, Wawiyeh indicated that Hezbollah had, a short time ago, launched several explosive drones that exploded near Israeli army forces operating south of the front defense line in southern Lebanon, pointing out that no casualties were recorded among the forces.

It considered that these incidents constitute “additional violations of the ceasefire understandings,” in light of the continued field tension on the southern border.

These developments come in the context of the continuing escalation on the southern front, where the region is witnessing intermittent field tension despite the ceasefire understandings, with an exchange of accusations between the two sides regarding violations of these understandings.

Incidents of the use of drones and aerial interceptions have been repeated recently, reflecting the nature of the confrontation, which has become increasingly dependent on technological means, amid fears that the situation will slide into a broader confrontation.

Also, not activating sirens in some cases falls within operational policies aimed at avoiding causing panic in internal areas, which reflects the sensitivity of the stage and the complexity of field calculations.
