Yesterday, a serious accident occurred in the town of Kfarhim in Shufiya, as a result of which a Chinese citizen of Syrian nationality was killed by citizen Samah Abu Khazam.
According to preliminary information, three armed robbers entered the home of expatriate Fadi Abu Khuzam, and he received a notification on his phone after surveillance cameras monitored movement inside his house.
Fadi immediately called his brother Samah, who lives in the same building. Samah took a separate weapon to threaten the thieves who started shooting at him, which prompted him to respond in self-defense, killing two of the thieves while the third fled.
According to preliminary investigations, it was found that the gang was of Syrian nationality, while the third thief is still on the run.
The incident sparked great condemnation and widespread solidarity with the young man, Samah Abu Khuzam, who surrendered himself to the security forces immediately.
The people demanded Samah’s immediate release as he defended himself and his livelihood against the attackers.
The head of the Arab Tawheed Party, Wiam Wahhab, called on the judiciary to deal with the Kfarhim incident “justly and wisely,” considering that what happened fell within the framework of self-defense.
Wahhab said that the young man, Samah, “confronted Syrian militants inside his house and killed them, and this is his right,” stressing the need to approach the case judicially in a way that ensures justice.
He added that he trusts Chief Justice Sami Sader, noting at the same time the move of Judge Raja Hamoush during a similar incident in Beirut.
We hope that the judiciary will handle the Kfarhim incident with justice and wisdom. The young man, Samah, confronted Syrian militants inside his house and killed them, and this is his right. We trust President Sami Sader, and here we note the step of President Raja Hamoush during the similar incident in Beirut.
