In the early hours of this morning, the Lebanese Civil Defense rescue teams began a series of meticulous field inspections along the Litani River, specifically in the area surrounding the Qasimiya Bridge, as part of ongoing efforts to uncover the fate of a number of people who went missing as a result of the Israeli raids that previously affected the area.
Since approximately 9:00 am, these teams have begun intensive diving operations in the waters of the Litani River, under the sea bridge located in the Al-Qasimiya locality, in an effort to find the bodies of missing persons who were killed as a result of the Israeli raids that targeted the bridge before the truce took effect.
These efforts fall within the framework of completing search and rescue operations in sites damaged by bombing during the past period, amid complex and difficult field conditions.
Officials confirmed that “there is no closure of the main street while the search operations are being carried out,” and that traffic continues as usual, in conjunction with the work of specialized teams.
It is noteworthy that the “Al-Qasimiya Bridge” had been subjected to intense Israeli raids earlier, which led to the destruction of large parts of the infrastructure and the fall of a number of victims and missing persons, at the height of the escalation witnessed in the southern regions prior to reaching the ceasefire agreement.
Search operations for missing persons have continued in many affected areas since then, while rescue teams face great difficulties at the logistical and technical levels due to the extent of the devastation and destruction.
