The Public Administration Employees Association raised the ceiling of its action, calling on all employees to participate extensively in the action scheduled for 11 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, in front of Riad Solh Square, and announcing that its meetings will remain open to take escalatory steps that may lead to sit-ins, demonstrations, and strikes.
In its statement No. 13/2026, the Association denounced in the strongest terms the Israeli attacks on Lebanon and the Lebanese, especially the martyrdom of a colleague in the Ministry of Labor and members of her family, and the targeting of the Ministry of Finance building in Nabatieh, considering that targeting employees, their families, and official institutions constitutes a blatant attack on Lebanon, its state, and its institutions.
She said that public administration employees continue to perform their duty in light of the aggression and harsh conditions, while the government continues to ignore their suffering and the collapse of their purchasing power, noting that the 2027 draft budget is devoid of any serious treatment of salaries and wages, and proposes selective and fragmented solutions that attack the principle of equality, which is considered a constitutional right, and attempts to divide public administration employees.
Under the slogan “The government ignores the employee… and the employee will not ignore his rights,” the association affirmed that it will not accept this reality, stressing that “employee rights are not a gift, are not crumbs, and are not subject to installments or bargaining.”
It called for an actual and fair correction of wages by including an 11-fold increase at the beginning of 2026, as the Council of Ministers approved in its session held on February 16, 2026, in a way that restores to the employee a portion of his purchasing power and preserves his dignity and his right to a fair wage, with the necessity of including this project in the budget figures before it is decided.
It also called for raising the transportation allowance in proportion to its actual cost, rejecting the retroactive installment mechanism established by the Ministry of Finance, and approving a new and fair series of ranks and salaries that guarantee the employee a decent life, according to the price and inflation index and a sliding scale of wages, in addition to rejecting any selective or discriminatory solutions.
The association, elected on February 7, 2026 and duly registered with the Ministry of the Interior, confirmed that Wednesday’s move “is not a passing move, but rather the beginning of escalation,” announcing that its meetings will remain open on Thursday and Friday to take escalatory steps leading to sit-ins, demonstrations, and strikes.
She concluded: “The time of waiting is over, the time of begging is over, the time of crumbs is over. Our rights are complete, and our dignity is not subject to compromise. We are united in demand, united in position, and the escalation will continue until rights are achieved.”
