In a step aimed at avoiding a repeat of the Ali Al-Taher Heights scenario, Al-Hadath sources revealed an agreement between Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to deploy the Lebanese army in the Nabatieh region in southern Lebanon.

The sources explained that the agreement requires the army to begin deploying in the Iqlim al-Tuffah area.

She stressed that Berri and Salam’s decision to deploy the army in the Al-Tuffah region aims to spare the region the same fate that the Ali Al-Taher Heights witnessed.

Ali Al-Taher Heights is considered a geographical point of field importance, due to its location overlooking a wide area of villages and areas surrounding Nabatieh and Iqlim Al-Tuffah. The recent developments in the highlands have made them the focus of fears that the scene will move to a larger scale, which has placed the issue of the army’s deployment in the Al-Tuffah region at the forefront of movements aimed at preventing the recurrence of the same scenario.
