Today, President Joseph Aoun followed a series of diplomatic, financial, health and cultural files, during meetings held at Baabda Palace, the most notable of which was his receipt of a message from the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and his discussion of the bank restructuring file with the Minister of Finance, Yassine Jaber, and the Governor of the Bank of Lebanon, Karim Saeed.
In detail, Aoun received a message from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, conveyed to him by the UAE Ambassador to Lebanon, Fahd Salem Saeed Al Kaabi, which included an official invitation to participate in the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, which the UAE and Senegal are jointly hosting.
The conference is scheduled to be held between December 8 and 10 next at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, with international participation to discuss files related to water resources management and challenges related to water security.
In another meeting, Aoun received MP Abd al-Rahman al-Bizri and the head of the International Society for Organ Transplantation, Professor Nada al-Hakim, and briefed them on the latest medical and scientific developments in the field of organ transplantation.
He also received from the General Manager of Universal Publisher, Engineer Fadi Al-Munzah and photographer Rami Rizk, the first copy of the book “Lebanon as Never Seen Before,” which includes a collection of aerial photographs of different Lebanese regions, in addition to scenes documenting national and heritage events.
On the financial level, Aoun presented, with Finance Minister Yassine Jaber and the Governor of the Bank of Lebanon, Karim Saeed, a number of financial affairs, in addition to the bank restructuring law that was recently approved by the House of Representatives.
The Bank Restructuring Law constitutes one of the basic files related to the reorganization of the banking sector, as it specifies the frameworks that will be adopted to address the conditions of banks and rearrange their financial and administrative conditions, in parallel with the continuation of work on files related to reforming the financial and banking sector.
