A day full of fire was experienced in southern Lebanon, with an Israeli escalation that extended from the Marjayoun Plain and Deir Mimas to Markaba, Sarbin, Al-Mansouri and Zawtar Al-Sharqiya, combining artillery shelling and huge explosions, while the fires continued to devour fields and forest areas due to the wind and the difficulty of reaching them.
The National News Agency in Marjayoun reported that the fires are still spreading in the Marjayoun Plain, after the winds contributed to the expansion of the fires that broke out in the wheat fields following an Israeli artillery bombardment that targeted the area under the Hamams Hill.
Plumes of smoke rise from the fields, while fires continue to spread in the area that falls within what is known as the “yellow line.”
In the outskirts of the town of Deir Mimas, intermittent Israeli artillery shelling, continuing since the morning hours, caused the outbreak of fires that extended from the course of the Litani River all the way to the forest located under the Murqos station in the town.
The fire continues to spread into the forest areas and surrounding lands, amid difficulty in controlling it due to the continued bombing and field conditions in the area.
This coincided with the Israeli army carrying out two huge bombings in the town of Markaba, and a new bombing in the town of Sarbin, in addition to huge bombings in Al-Mansouri, while the effects of the Israeli bombings appeared in the eastern town of Zawtar.
This escalation comes in the context of a large field day witnessed in the south, where raids, shelling, bombings and incursions were distributed between the western sector, Bint Jbeil and Marjayoun, and affected Al-Mansouri, Tair Harfa, Majdal Zoun, Arnoun and Sarbin, in conjunction with artillery shelling targeting Ainata and Beit Lev and movements of Israeli military vehicles in a number of border areas.
