The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) revealed the list of goals nominated for the Best Goal Award in the 2026 World Cup in America, Mexico and Canada, which concluded on Sunday.

Spain won the tournament for the second time in its history, after defeating its Argentine counterpart 1-0 in the final, which was held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

In a statement on its official website, FIFA asked the fans to vote on the best goal out of 12 goals in the tournament, which witnessed the scoring of 308 goals, which is the tournament that witnessed the most goals scored in the history of the World Cup.

FIFA explained that the voting process to choose the best goal will extend until July 27.

Argentine star Lionel Messi’s goal against Algeria in the first round in Group Ten was among the nominated goals, and Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, the top scorer in the tournament with 10 goals and the all-time top scorer in the World Cup, was also present with his goal against Senegal in the first round in Group Nine.

The nominations also included the goal of Spanish national team striker Ferran Torres against Argentina in the final match, in addition to the goal of Argentine Julian Alvarez against Switzerland in the quarter-finals.

English star Judd Bellingham, with his goal against France in the third-place match, was among the candidates, along with his former Dortmund colleague and Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland, whose goal against Brazil in the round of 16 was nominated on the list.

In the rest of the nominations, there is Bosnian Karim Alijovic’s goal against Qatar in the third round of Group Two, and Cabo Verde’s Sidney Cabral’s goal against Argentina in the round of 32.

FIFA also nominated the goal of Wilson Isdor, the Haiti player, against Morocco in the third round of Group C, and the goal of Elijah Just, the New Zealand striker, against Iran, among the list.
