The expected Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon is still stuck at the starting point, amid conflict between talk about a pilot project and assurances that its implementation has not yet begun, at a time when Israel is adhering to security conditions related to the areas included in the withdrawal.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that the pilot project for the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon has not yet begun, despite the understandings reached with Lebanon regarding this step.

According to the Commission, the Israeli army will withdraw from the towns of Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Zawtar al-Gharbiya only, based on the existing understandings with the Lebanese side.

She added that Israel demanded that the United States undertake the task of verifying that the experimental areas were free of any military structures affiliated with Hezbollah.

These data come at a time when the start of the field withdrawal is linked to an American verification mechanism, while the first phase of the pilot project is limited to Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Zawtar al-Gharbiya.
