Scottish club Celtic is intensifying its efforts to sign Egyptian national team star Haitham Hassan, the Spanish winger of Real Oviedo, after his remarkable brilliance with the Pharaohs in the 2026 World Cup.

The 24-year-old player appeared at a distinguished level during the tournament, after he contributed to Egypt reaching the round of 16 before exiting against Argentina in an exciting confrontation.

Previous reports had indicated that Celtic had reached an agreement with Haitham Hassan regarding a contract extending for four seasons, with all personal conditions being settled.

The Scottish club is seeking to complete the deal quickly, after Real Oviedo rejected its first offer due to the weak financial consideration, and is awaiting a new and improved offer in the coming days.

Celtic is continuing its contacts with the player’s agents, amid expectations that his transfer will be completed next week if negotiations go as planned, making him the team’s second summer signing after Camilo Duran.
