According to a report published by Business Insider, these games vary between simulation games, puzzles, and quick challenges, and they can be played directly within the application without the need to leave it or download additional applications.

The report indicated that games developed by external companies include ads that appear between stages of play or give additional benefits to users when watching them, while developers and TikTok share the revenues from these ads. Also, games can be promoted through specialized advertising tools provided by the platform.

Experts believe that this step comes within the framework of the increasing competition to attract users’ attention, especially as a number of digital platforms tend to integrate games into their services.

Mini-games also enhance TikTok’s opportunities to benefit from the smartphone game advertising market, which is expected to reach $8.28 billion in the United States in 2026.
