The Iranian Mehr News Agency reported that air defenses were activated on Qeshm Island, located near the Strait of Hormuz, after small drones were detected in the airspace of the region.

According to the agency, the decision to activate air defenses came after monitoring operations, without revealing further details about the nature of the drones or the party behind them.

This development comes in light of the escalation of tension between Washington and Tehran, after US President Donald Trump previously confirmed that “there is no room for concession,” stressing that Iran “knows what will happen if it does not conclude a deal.”

The activation of Iranian air defenses also coincided with Trump’s announcement of postponing a military attack on Iran that was scheduled “tomorrow,” after he said that he had responded to a request from Gulf leaders to give an additional opportunity to the ongoing negotiations with Tehran.

In the same context, it was reported that Trump, after returning from a lightning visit to China, spent the weekend meeting with his national security team at his golf club in Virginia, to discuss the next steps related to Iran.

Reports also indicated that additional meetings are expected to be held on Tuesday, at a time when hardline allies of Trump, including Senator Lindsey Graham, are pressing for the resumption of military operations against Iran, as diplomatic efforts continue to falter.
