A group of the most prominent tennis stars in the world expressed their extreme disappointment with the value of the prize money set for the French Open “Roland Garros”, criticizing the lack of progress in addressing the complaints they had previously submitted.

20 male and female players, including Italian Jannik Sinner, ranked number one in the world, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, ranked number one in the world, Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, ranked second in the world, Serbian Novak Djokovic, American Coco Gauff, and Polish Iga Szwiatek, sent a letter to the four major Grand Slam tournaments in May of last year, to demand a greater share of revenues and an increase in their role in decision-making.

The British news agency, PA Media, reported that despite the positive signals previously shown by the major tournaments regarding readiness for dialogue, frustration among players increased, prompting the same group, which includes most of the top ten seeds in the World Associations of Professional Tennis Players and Professional Tennis Players, to issue an official statement.

The French Open organizing committee announced earlier this month an overall increase in prizes of 9.5% compared to last year, with the men’s and women’s singles champion and champion receiving 2.8 million euros each ($3.3 million).
