In a qualitative operation that reflects the escalation of security efforts, the Jordanian army announced, on Sunday, the implementation of strikes targeting the sites of arms and drug dealers on its northern border, as part of what it described as a “Jordanian deterrence operation.”
The army explained in a statement that the armed forces carried out a precise operation on Sunday morning targeting a number of sites on the northern border front of the Kingdom, noting that these sites are used by groups to smuggle weapons and narcotic materials towards Jordanian territory.
The statement added that the armed forces identified, based on intelligence and operational information, the locations of factories, laboratories and warehouses that these groups rely on as starting points for their operations, and they were targeted and destroyed.
The Jordanian army confirmed that the targeting operations were carried out “with the highest degree of accuracy,” with the aim of preventing the arrival of weapons and narcotic materials into the Kingdom.
He pointed out that groups active in this field are adopting new patterns of work, taking advantage of weather conditions and regional developments to carry out smuggling operations, at a time when these attempts have witnessed a noticeable escalation, which has posed a challenge to the border guard forces and supporting units.
The Jordanian Armed Forces stressed that it will continue to adopt a proactive, decisive and deterrent approach in confronting any threat that affects the security and sovereignty of the Kingdom, stressing that it will harness all its capabilities to confront these challenges with full force.
