Araqji is conducting extensive contacts to discuss the latest developments with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt

In a quick diplomatic move aimed at reducing regional escalation, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a series of phone calls with foreign ministers of countries in the region, including Faisal bin Farhan and Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, to discuss the latest developments and ways to ease tension.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that Araqchi reviewed with the Saudi minister various aspects of the current situation, especially with regard to the ceasefire, and informed him of the latest diplomatic efforts undertaken by Tehran to end the conflict and reduce tension.

In a separate call, Araqchi discussed with his Qatari counterpart the available diplomatic paths, and presented the most important Iranian initiatives, while Al Thani praised the diplomatic approach adopted by Tehran, stressing Qatar’s readiness to continue its effective role in mediation and facilitating dialogue between the parties.

In a related context, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Minister Badr Abdel Aty held a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, during which he stressed the importance of full commitment to diplomatic solutions, noting that dialogue is the basic guarantee to avoid the expansion of the conflict in the region.

At the same time, Iranian official television reported that Araqchi left the Sultanate of Oman heading to Islamabad, after a meeting with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, as a new stop on his regional tour.

These moves come within a broader diplomatic tour undertaken by the Iranian Foreign Minister, which is scheduled to end in Russia, with the aim of holding intensive bilateral consultations and discussing developments in the regional situation, in light of the military escalation and increasing tensions.

This tour comes at a very sensitive time, as diplomatic efforts coincide with military pressures, amid international and regional efforts to contain the confrontation and prevent it from turning into a broader conflict, by activating dialogue channels and strengthening the path of calm.

This move reflects the increasing reliance on regional mediations, especially from countries such as Qatar and Oman, which have historically played important roles in facilitating communication between conflicting parties, at a time when attention is turning to the results of these efforts and the possibility of turning them into practical steps on the ground.
