Trump: Continuous attacks targeting him since the beginning of his election campaign

In a new security development that highlights the increasing risks surrounding US President Donald Trump, gunfire was heard during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, on Saturday evening, inside the Washington Hilton Hotel, which required quick intervention from the Secret Service to evacuate Trump from the hall.

According to available information, the shooting occurred at approximately 8:30 pm EST, while Trump was about to deliver a speech to the audience, which included his deputy, J.D. Vance, and a number of officials in the US administration and members of Congress.

Although investigations are continuing, all the details of the incident have not yet become clear, including whether Trump was the direct target, noting that he indicated this in subsequent statements, where he said, “This is not the first time in the past two years that our republic has been subjected to an attack that resembles an assassination attempt.”

This incident comes within a series of serious security incidents that have been associated with Trump since his first presidential campaign, which included shooting by lone gunmen, assassination attempts, in addition to repeated security breaches.

Among the most prominent of these incidents was an assassination attempt during an election rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump was wounded in the right ear, before the attacker was killed by a Secret Service sniper, in addition to another incident in West Palm Beach, Florida, where a gunman was arrested inside a golf club owned by Trump.

The past years have also witnessed multiple threats, including an attempt to snatch a policeman’s weapon during an election rally in Las Vegas in 2016, directing a heavy vehicle towards his convoy in 2017, sending a letter containing a toxic substance in 2020, in addition to assassination plots linked to foreign parties, and an attempted armed infiltration into the Mar-a-Lago resort in February 2026.

Observers believe that the recurrence of these incidents reflects the increasing security challenges facing the protection agencies, despite the strict measures surrounding the US President, which raises questions about the ability of these agencies to contain the growing threats in light of a complex security environment.
