From Antalya: The UAE determines the features of the next stage in light of Iranian developments

The diplomatic advisor to the President of the UAE, Anwar Gargash, explained that his country refuses to accept tensions, threats and attacks for granted in the Middle East region. He stressed the importance of conducting a comprehensive assessment of the course of regional relations in light of recent developments.

Gargash stated in his post on the “X” platform today, Sunday, that the Antalya Diplomatic Forum represents the first international gathering after “the Iranian war in all its dimensions,” indicating that the participating countries are seeking to understand the features of the new phase and the changes that have occurred in the political scene.

He added that “the brutal Iranian aggression against the countries and peoples of the Arabian Gulf and its repercussions” remains at the core of the UAE’s concern, in reference to the consequences of the recent confrontations and the major regional escalation that accompanied them.

Gargash stressed that “it is not possible to return to the previous pace of relations without review, frankness and guarantees,” stressing that the UAE “cannot accept tension, threats and aggression as a new reality.”

The Emirati official’s statements express an official position calling for reshaping the foundations of regional interaction, relying on stability and a mutual commitment to non-escalation.

These statements come after a period of intense tension that the region witnessed against the backdrop of clashes linked to Iran and their effects on Gulf security, in addition to disturbances in navigation, energy, and political balances. These developments have raised questions about the future of relations between Tehran and the Gulf states, and the possibility of returning to a path of permanent calm.

The Antalya Diplomatic Forum is considered an international platform that brings together officials and decision-makers to discuss regional and international challenges, and this year it gains special importance in light of the reshaping of the political landscape in the Middle East.
