The Tanker Trackers website reported on Saturday that the naval forces of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard forced two Indian ships to retreat and move away from the Strait of Hormuz, explaining that this incident witnessed gunfire.
In a related context, the British Maritime Trade Operations Authority revealed that it had received a report regarding a tanker being attacked by gunfire by what it called “two armed boats belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard,” at an estimated distance of 20 nautical miles to the northeast of the Sultanate of Oman.
The authority indicated in a statement that the captain of the tanker stated that the two boats suddenly started firing without any attempt to communicate via radio, confirming the safety of the ship and its crew.
In addition, Reuters quoted sources in the shipping sector that commercial ships received wireless notifications from the Iranian Navy indicating the decision to re-close the Strait of Hormuz and prevent ships from passing through it.
