The competition for the top of the English Premier League for the 2025-2026 season intensified, after a landslide victory achieved by Manchester City at the expense of its host Chelsea, with three unanswered goals, in the 32nd round matches, which were held at Stamford Bridge.
City was able to settle the result of the match in the second half, after the first half ended in a scoreless draw, with Nico O’Reilly, Mark Guhi and Jeremy Doku scoring in the 51st, 57th and 68th minutes, respectively.
With this victory, Manchester City raised its score to 64 points to occupy second place in the standings, and reduced the gap with leaders Arsenal to only 6 points, which added more excitement to the title race, especially since City still had a match in hand.
This comes after Arsenal suffered a defeat against Bournemouth, which provided the opportunity for Manchester City to return strongly to the competition circle.
On the other hand, Chelsea’s balance remained at 46 points in sixth place, behind Manchester United, Aston Villa and Liverpool, who occupy positions from third to fifth, respectively.
Attention is currently turning to the important match that will bring together Manchester City and Arsenal at the “Etihad” Stadium next Sunday, a match that may greatly determine the course of the title competition in the coming rounds.
The ranking table was as follows:
Arsenal: 70 points
Manchester City: 64 points
Manchester United: 55 points
Aston Villa: 55 points
Liverpool: 52 points
Chelsea: 46 points
