Saudi Arabia recalls its ambassador to Iraq following drone attacks

Against the backdrop of what it called “continued attacks and threats” that affected its lands and the Gulf states, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia took an important diplomatic step by recalling the ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to it.

The Saudi News Agency reported that this summons came in response to the attacks carried out by drones launched from Iraqi territory, which prompted Riyadh to file an official protest, expressing its strong condemnation and denunciation of these events.

During the delivery of the memorandum, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs stressed the importance of Iraq dealing “responsibly” with these threats, stressing that the Kingdom will not tolerate in maintaining its security, and that it will take “all necessary measures” to protect its lands.

This measure comes amid the escalation of security tension in the region, and the increase in the frequency of attacks using drones and missiles, which highlights the fragility and complexities of the regional situation, especially in light of the connection of some of these attacks to broader regional issues.

This summons also reflects the Gulf states’ concern about exploiting Iraqi territory as a platform to launch military operations, which puts Baghdad under political and security pressure to control the situation and prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

This step is considered part of a series of mutual diplomatic positions and escalations in the region, in light of the escalation of tension on the regional scene and the absence of clear political solutions to the complex crises.
