Confusion at Hull City.. Jakirovic is studying Collier's next move

Hull City coach Sergej Jakirovic expressed his concern about Toby Collier’s ability to participate in two consecutive matches in the space of a week, after the outstanding performance provided by the midfielder on loan from Manchester United in his first appearance in the team’s starting lineup.

Collier, 22, played Monday’s match with great importance, as he had only played 30 minutes in a Hull City shirt before due to injuries and lack of physical readiness, but he took advantage of this opportunity well in the goalless draw with leaders Coventry City.

Although his level may qualify him to be among the starting options to face Bramall Lane on Saturday, Jacerovic prefers to be cautious in dealing with his physical fitness, given his lack of recent participation, which may force him to make changes in the midfield.

The coach pointed out that Collier’s last starting match was in November, stressing that the technical staff will closely monitor his condition before making a final decision regarding his participation as a starter or relying on him as a substitute. He added that the player spent about two days in recovery, before returning to training normally on Thursday.

Jakirovic explained that he expected Collier to play between 45 and 50 minutes, but what he saw on the field made him stay longer, before he showed signs of fatigue and cramps in the leg muscle after about 65 to 70 minutes. He also drew attention to the fact that his starting position came after he appeared in good condition, especially after being absent from the field for 14 weeks during his loan period to West Bromwich.
