Is it safe to leave a remote on? "PlayStation 5" Charging all night?

Leaving the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller connected to the charger overnight may seem like a normal procedure, especially with the widespread use of USB-C cables in most modern devices. In theory, this does not represent an immediate danger, but repeating it constantly is not the best method if you want to maintain battery life for as long as possible.

The controller relies on an intelligent charging system that speeds up the charging process up to about 80%, then gradually reduces the speed until the battery is completely filled. When 100% is reached, the unit stops drawing power completely, but there is still very limited power flow to maintain the charge level, causing the battery to stay warm for a long time.

This slight temperature, although not extreme, may over time negatively affect the performance of the battery, especially if it is repeatedly charged at night for months. With gradual wear, the battery’s ability to hold a charge may decrease, the controller may heat up more quickly during use, and there may be a decrease in the accuracy of the battery level reading.

To avoid this degradation, it is best to keep the charge level between 20% and 80% whenever possible, and avoid leaving the unit connected to the charger for long hours. Usually two to three hours is sufficient. It is also recommended to use an original charging base or a “USB-C” charger with a suitable voltage, and be careful of unreliable accessories.

As another practical solution, a second controller can be used alternately, reducing strain on the battery and extending the life of each device.
