What weather will March bid us farewell to?

The Estimates Department at the Meteorological Department in the General Directorate of Civil Aviation expected that a depression would affect Lebanon and the eastern basin of the Mediterranean, accompanied by cold air masses that would lead to a drop in temperatures, and heavy rain would fall sometimes accompanied by lightning and thunder. Snow would also fall on the highlands, and winds would be active, especially in the north of the country. The effect of the depression would continue until Monday evening, when it would gradually subside and temperatures would return to rising starting Tuesday.

Warning of sea waves reaching 3 metres, especially in the north of the country.

Expected weather in Lebanon:

Sunday: Cloudy with dense fog in the highlands and low temperatures. Scattered and muddy rain falls at the beginning and becomes heavy at times, especially in the southern regions, with lightning, thunder, and the possibility of hailstones. Snow falls at an altitude of 1,700 meters and then drops in the evening to about 1,500 meters in the northern highlands. Winds are also active, reaching 75 km/h in the northern regions. Therefore, we warn of sea waves reaching up to 3 metres.

Monday: Mostly cloudy with fog in the highlands and a further drop in temperatures to below their seasonal averages. Scattered and sometimes heavy rain falls during the period before noon, with lightning and thunder. Snow also falls at an altitude of 1,500 meters and above, and the winds remain active, especially in the north of the country, with rising sea waves. The intensity of the rain decreases starting in the afternoon and gradually subsides during the night, so that the weather turns to partly cloudy.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy with fog in the highlands, high temperatures and low humidity.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy with high clouds with an additional rise in temperatures to exceed their seasonal averages. Winds will be active in the evening and carry layers of dust. Clouds will thicken at dawn on Thursday and the weather will become ready for scattered and muddy rain with lightning and thunder, especially in the southern regions.

Surface winds: southwesterly to southeasterly, with speeds between 15 and 40 km/h, sometimes reaching 75 km/h, especially in the north.

Sea condition: rough.
Water surface temperature: 18°C.
