The social media platform “X”, owned by American billionaire Elon Musk, and formerly known as “Twitter”, faced disruptions that affected thousands of users around the world, and these regions included the Middle East, America, India, and Australia, in addition to other countries.
Downdetector, a site specialized in monitoring malfunctions, reported that more than 30,000 users reported problems with the platform on Thursday.
The data showed a significant increase in the number of reports coming from within the United States, reaching a peak at 2:15 a.m. EST, recording approximately 31,600 reports of difficulties accessing the platform. About 50% of users indicated problems with the “Timeline,” while 41% of them stated that they could not access the “X” application, while 6% reported malfunctions on the website, according to the “Mint” website.
Although the outage began in the United States, complaints began increasing in India as well, with reports exceeding 1,000, and users confirming their inability to access the platform.
Statusgator, another crash tracking site, also noted that the glitch appears to be affecting users in the US, India, and the UK, among other countries.
Users took to other social media platforms, such as Reddit, Threads and Instagram, to confirm whether the problem was general or individual.
Many users also complained about the timeline appearing blank and profiles not loading on the platform.
One user wrote on Threads: “Twitter is down again, looks like it’s the fifth time this month or something. I guess this is what happens when you lay off all your engineers.”
While another user asked: “Is Twitter down for you too? I checked Downdetector and the reports are rising dramatically. Has it been hacked? Share with us what you know in the comments.”
