
The Vice President of the Free Patriotic Movement for Administrative Affairs, Ghassan Al-Khoury, toured the southern region, starting in the Jezzine district. There, he met with the mayor of Jezzine – Ain Magdalene, David Helou, and members of the municipal council, and inspected the work of the crisis cell and the efforts made to care for the people in light of the current conditions.
Al-Khoury was accompanied on this tour by former MP Amal Abu Zeid and former Minister Hector Hajjar. They held a series of meetings with the movement’s cadres and regional leaders, in the presence of the judiciary and the Jezzine City Authority, where they discussed the general conditions and difficulties facing the region.
The tour included a visit to shelter centers in the city of Jezzine and the Monastery of Saint Peter and Paul of the Antonine Order, where the delegation met a number of displaced people from the affected villages. They listened to the message of Fathers Philmon Silwan and Boutros Akouri, which emphasized national and humanitarian values and the importance of preserving the land and the people.
During the tour, Al-Khoury headed to the Al-Zahrani region, where he visited the town of Maghdouche and the municipality of Al-Adousiya, and met prominent figures from the region and a number of townspeople who persevere in their villages despite the harsh conditions. During these meetings, the necessary needs were discussed.
Al-Khoury stressed that this tour bears special importance in view of the dangers surrounding Lebanon and the residents of the region, stressing the principles of the “Free Patriotic Movement,” especially supporting institutional work, strengthening stability, and supporting social and economic resilience, in addition to enhancing cooperation with municipalities and local actors.
He also stressed the need to give priority to civil stability and keep the region away from tensions, noting that the current stage requires strengthening solidarity among the people of the regions and working together to protect stability and support the steadfastness of the Lebanese in their homeland.
