The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reported that the Arab League Council praised the Lebanese government’s decision to prevent Hezbollah’s military and security activities, during an extraordinary meeting of Arab foreign ministers, which was devoted to discussing the issue of “targeting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Arab countries in light of Iranian attacks.”
The Ministry stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Youssef Raji, attended the meeting, and the Council issued a resolution that included, in its twelfth clause, support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and the expansion of the state’s authority over all its territories, in addition to praising the Lebanese government’s decision to prevent the military and security activities of “Hezbollah.”
The text of the resolution stated the following: “Emphasizing support for Lebanon’s unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and the necessity of extending the full authority of the Lebanese state over all its territories in a way that ensures the strengthening of its constitutional institutions and the preservation of national security and stability.”
The resolution also included: “Welcoming the Lebanese Council of Ministers’ decision issued on March 2, 2026 regarding the immediate ban on all security and military activities of Hezbollah, considering them outside the law, and limiting its work in the political field within constitutional and legal frameworks.”
The decision affirmed “the exclusivity of weapons in the hands of the Lebanese state and its legitimate institutions, especially the Lebanese army and the official security forces, in accordance with the provisions of the Lebanese constitution and relevant international resolutions, first and foremost Security Council Resolution No. 1701 and the Taif Agreement.”
In addition, it was emphasized to support the measures taken by the Lebanese government to maintain the security and stability of the country, while calling on influential countries in the international community to put pressure on Israel to immediately stop its attacks on Lebanon and implement the relevant international resolutions.
