Apple announced a group of updates for the “MacBook Pro” devices intended for professionals, as it introduced the “M5 Pro and M5 Max” processors in 14- and 16-inch versions. These updates include performance improvements, increased storage speeds, and increased virtual memory capacity.

Both the M5 Pro and M5 Max processors feature an 18-core CPU design, including 6 “ultra-performance cores” and 12 new performance cores dedicated to multitasking. The “M5 Pro” processor provides graphics performance of up to 20 cores, while the “M5 Max” processor supports up to 40 cores, with improvements of up to 20% compared to the previous generation. Data transfer speed also increased to 307 GB/s in the “M5 Pro” and 614 GB/s in the “M5 Max”, in addition to support for “Wi-Fi 7” and “Bluetooth 6” thanks to the new “N1” chip.

In terms of storage, the “M5 Pro” model starts at 1TB, while the “M5 Max” starts at 2TB, with storage speeds doubling compared to the previous generation. Prices start at $1,699 for the basic model with the “M5” processor, $2,199 for the 14-inch model with the “M5 Pro” processor, and $2,699 for the 16-inch model. As for the “M5 Max” processor, its price starts at $3,599 for the 14-inch model and $3,899 for the 16-inch model. The battery lasts up to 22 hours in the “M5 Pro.” And 20 hours in “M5 Max”.

Apple also revealed an update to the 27-inch “Studio Display” and “Studio Display XDR” screens, improving the quality of the “Center Stage” camera and supporting “Thunderbolt 5.” The XDR model uses mini-LED lighting and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, in addition to up to 2,000 nits of brightness in HDR mode. Screen prices start at $1,599 for the regular screen and $3,299 for the “XDR” model, with additional “nano-texture” coating options available for $300.

Pre-orders for the new MacBook Pro devices will begin on March 4, and will be available in stores starting March 11 in the United States, in black and silver.
