She faces serious charges "Middle East"... Al-Sayed: Questions about the role of the new governor

Representative Jamil Al-Sayyed sparked widespread controversy through his post on the “X” platform, in which he made serious accusations against the management of Middle East Airlines (MEA), the Lebanese company wholly owned by the state through the Bank of Lebanon. Al-Sayed wondered about the truth about what was going on inside the company’s corridors, describing the situation as a new “embezzlement scandal.”

Al-Sayed revealed the details of the latest case, noting that nearly two million US dollars had been embezzled by one of the company’s employees in conjunction with others. Al-Sayed stressed that this incident “is not the first” of its kind, but was preceded by similar incidents during the management period of Muhammad Al-Hout, reviewing examples that included embezzlement in external branches of the company, such as the Baghdad branch and one of the European branches, in addition to the departure of some employees from Lebanon.

Al-Sayed also hinted at the existence of what he called “corruption networks” permeating various sectors within the company, including procurement, maintenance, and purchasing aircraft spare parts. He raised suspicions about some contracts and services, criticizing what he considered to be the absence of careful accounting auditing and the spread of quotas and favoritism.

At the conclusion of his post, Al-Sayyed directed direct questions to the new governor of the Bank of Lebanon, as the owner of the company’s shares, asking whether the bank would take serious legal action to pursue this case, and whether a global and independent auditing company would be assigned to reveal the full facts and protect public money.

These statements come at a time when the file is witnessing widespread circulation in political and media circles, while no official response has yet been issued by the company’s management or the concerned authorities regarding what was stated in Al-Sayyid’s statements.
