The day after tomorrow, Thursday, the Council of Ministers will enter a new session on the impact of political, security, and economic files, with an agenda that includes draft laws, appointments, and files related to energy, communications, the army, and the Lebanese University, in addition to a striking item related to real estate located in areas occupied by the Israeli army.
According to the official agenda, the Council of Ministers will hold its session at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the Republican Palace, to discuss political, security, and economic developments, in addition to regular and organizational items and functional affairs.
At the forefront of the draft laws, the Council is discussing the request of the Ministry of the Interior and Municipalities to amend the law for electing members of the House of Representatives to allow for the appointment of chief clerks and clerks from the Internal Security Forces reserve and not limit them to state employees, in addition to the request of the Ministry of Information to establish an internal fund in the Lebanese Broadcasting Directorate, and the request of the Ministry of Finance to approve a draft law prohibiting the disposition and sales of real estate in areas occupied by the Israeli army.
The Council is also discussing the draft executive program for cultural cooperation between Lebanon and Jordan for the years 2026-2029, in addition to the file of full-time contract professors at the Lebanese University and various appointments, and a presentation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants regarding the legal status of one of the palaces and the options available in it.
In the energy file, the table includes a presentation of the results of the Public Prosecution’s investigations at the Audit Bureau, which concluded with a recommendation to terminate the contract of the contractor “KVA” and ensure the continuity of the public electrical facility in the Bekaa until a tender is held, in addition to a draft decree related to the Union of Municipalities of the Northern Coastal and Central Matn, and files related to the Council for Development and Reconstruction, solid household waste management, and financing work in the New Sanitary Landfill.
The Council will also discuss the Ministry of Finance’s request to reconsider a decision related to disbursing dues for the preparations for the parliamentary elections, and the Ministry of Communications’ request to secure the necessary funding for the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to seek the assistance of an international consulting company and prepare books of conditions related to the operation of the two cellular networks, in addition to a real estate file in the Faqra area, restoration work for buildings in the town of Borj Al-Shamali, and securing equipment for the army for the year 2026, and the Ministry of Defense’s request to approve compensation for damage to two buildings in the locality of Barqa – Nabatieh during the implementation of a mission. Transporting confiscated ammunition.
The table also includes a file for the sale of draft fans, a central initiative within a project affiliated with the Council for Development and Reconstruction, and a series of donations that include equipment for the Lebanese University, machinery for a number of municipalities, equipment for the European Union Peace Facility, and machinery provided to the Ministry of Defense by the Mine Advisory Group (MAG).
As for the foreign participation item, it includes the travel of the Minister of Energy and Water to the Emirates, and the travel of the Minister of Social Affairs to Italy, in addition to the request of the Ministry of Economy and Trade to amend a previous decision related to participation in the meetings of the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
