Under the patronage of MP Hani Qubaisi, the Lebanese Writers Union held a ceremony to sign Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Qanso’s new book, “The Art of Negotiation and Conflict Resolution.” This took place in the hall of the Kamel Youssef Jaber Cultural Center in Nabatieh, in the presence of political, social, military, security and municipal figures, in addition to cultural and educational activities and a gathering of family and friends.
The ceremony began with the Lebanese national anthem, then the writer Muhammad Moallem gave a welcoming and introductory speech, followed by a speech by the President of the Lebanese Writers Union, Dr. Ahmed Nazzal, a speech by the journalist Dr. Sami Kleib, and a speech by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Adnan Mansour.
Dr. Qanso spoke, expressing his thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of this meeting. He expressed his happiness at holding the signing ceremony in Nabatieh, which he described as “the city of science and knowledge,” and stressed that the south “is not only an arena of steadfastness, but a beacon of awareness and culture.” He pointed out that his book is not just a theoretical proposal, but rather a call for deep thinking in these difficult times, believing that Lebanon will remain the homeland of a strong state and an invincible human being.
In his speech, Representative Qubaisi expressed his regret at what political practice has turned into today, and considered that politics is practiced “in contradiction to the truth and to people’s morals, values, and principles,” stressing that what Dr. Qanso proposes in his book is very necessary in light of this revolution in concepts, where the logic of force has come to replace diplomacy, which represents the true essence of politics.
Qubaisi pointed out that the ongoing Israeli attacks in the south, and the violation of Lebanese sovereignty and airspace, are evidence of the prevailing arrogance in the region, stressing that confronting this requires the Lebanese to unite, understand, and preserve coexistence, inspired by the saying of Imam Musa al-Sadr: “The best aspect of war with Israel is internal national unity.”
He added that the political leadership, headed by President Nabih Berri, worked and is still working to preserve internal unity and build a stable and sovereign homeland that protects its borders, stressing the need for the language of communication between the Lebanese to be the opposite of the policies of chaos, arrogance and domination. He warned against political positions that constitute, whether intentionally or unintentionally, a cover or justification for the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, considering this a dangerous position at the national, international and legal levels.
Qubaisi stressed that the Lebanese government is responsible for unifying the political position to reach a real confrontation with the enemy “one hand: army, people, resistance, and institutions,” in order to preserve Lebanon’s strength, pride, and dignity. He also touched on the upcoming parliamentary elections, considering that it is a competition between a movement that believes in the equation of the state, the army, and the resistance, and another movement that seeks to overthrow this equation without any international guarantees that protect Lebanon’s security and stability.
Kobeissi concluded by emphasizing that national responsibility requires supporting the resistance, protecting the blood of the martyrs and the sacrifices of the wounded, and working to rebuild destroyed villages and return the people to their towns within a national project that restores life to the south and keeps Lebanon strong and safe.
At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Qanso signed his book and distributed it to the attendees.
