The Ministries of Social Affairs and Technology and Artificial Intelligence signed a joint memorandum of understanding, which aims to upgrade the digital infrastructure of the Ministry of Social Affairs and integrate it into the framework of the national digital transformation system. This cooperation contributes to achieving efficiency, transparency, and sustainability of social services, and represents a promising reform step towards modernizing public administration and strengthening digital governance in Lebanon.
During the conference activities, the Minister of Social Affairs, “Haneen Al-Sayed,” stated that “technological progress is no longer a luxury, but an essential tool for achieving social justice and good governance,” adding that “technology has become the beating heart of every administration seeking to serve people efficiently and transparently.”
“Al-Sayed” pointed out that signing the memorandum “is more than an administrative agreement, it is a real reform step towards modernizing public administration and enhancing transparency and accountability,” explaining that “the ministry is working on three main pillars”:
Unified Registry of Beneficiaries: This registry aims to integrate different databases and ensure the distribution of support fairly and transparently.
Connecting 165 Social Development Centers: These centers are connected to a unified network for the exchange of information instantly and in real time.
Central Information Management System (Core MIS): This system aims to organize the internal workflow in the ministry and speed up the decision-making process.
For his part, the Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, “Kamal Shehadeh,” explained that “the memorandum of understanding is not just a paper of cooperation, but a practical step towards building a digital state that truly serves the people,” and pointed out that the main goal of establishing the ministry “is to launch a unified digital system for the Lebanese state that makes ministries work in integration, not in isolation.”
