Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received French Minister of Justice Gerald Darmanin, heading an accompanying delegation, in the presence of Minister of Justice Adel Nassar and the French Ambassador to Lebanon Patrick Durel.
The meeting discussed Lebanese-French relations and ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the judicial and judicial fields, in addition to supporting the path of reforms and enhancing the independence of the judiciary, especially in light of the existing cooperation between the Ministries of Justice in Lebanon and France.
The attendees also discussed developments in the south in light of the recent Israeli escalation, and diplomatic efforts aimed at pushing Israel towards withdrawing from Lebanese territory and restoring stability to the region.
The discussion touched on the future of the international presence in southern Lebanon and the period after the end of the UNIFIL mission, stressing the importance of avoiding any vacuum and supporting the Lebanese army in extending state authority over its entire territory.
