The Lebanon Debate correspondent reported that torrents resulting from heavy rains swept away a child in the Wadi Al-Nahla-Beddawi area in Tripoli, before a number of residents were able to save him.
A video clip shows people trying to reach the child amid the strong flow of water, before they succeeded in pulling him to a safe place, in a scene that reflects the danger of the floods that the region is witnessing.
The incident coincided with heavy rains and rainstorms hitting large areas of the north, causing torrential rains on a number of main and secondary roads.
In Akkar, floods led to the accumulation of large quantities of water and obstructed traffic, especially on the roads of the towns of Menjez and Shudra, where large parts of the main road were submerged.
These conditions call for the utmost caution, especially near watercourses and on roads that witness water accumulation, with the need for drivers to slow down to avoid slips and traffic accidents in light of the continuing rainy weather.
