Representative Ashraf Rifi responded, through his account on the “X” platform, to what was reported from a source close to “Hezbollah” regarding Ali Al-Taher Hill, considering that the party’s refusal to hand over the hill to the Lebanese army and stipulating “gains” in return, if true, “is not a settlement but rather blackmail of the state and confiscation of its sovereignty.”
Rifi said, “Ali al-Taher Hill is Lebanese land, and does not belong to Hezbollah, and the Lebanese army has the exclusive authority to protect and defend it.”
He added: “No one has the right to negotiate over state land, nor to ask for a price to hand it over to the state.”
Rifi concluded by stressing that “the time has come to end the logic of the statelet, and limit weapons and military and security decisions to the Lebanese state alone.”
