The Akkar region is witnessing heavy rains, concentrated especially on the coast, and accompanied by strong thunderstorms and the possibility of hailstones, according to what the Akkar Agricultural Meteorological Channel reported.
The channel had previously warned of an unusual depression expected to be centered south of the island of Cyprus, noting that Saturday and Sunday may witness thunderstorms, with the possibility of local torrential rains and strong winds.
In its warning to farmers, the channel called for raising the level of preparedness and taking the utmost caution, in light of the possibility of hailstones falling and the damage it may cause to crops and greenhouses.
As the impact of the depression continues, attention is turning to developments in the weather condition during the coming hours, amid hope that it will recede with the least possible damage, especially to farmers and their crops.
