The Consumer Protection Directorate in the Ministry of Economy and Trade revealed that electric generators alone accounted for 49% of the seizure reports filed since the beginning of the year, while it continued its oversight campaigns in coordination with the security and judicial agencies.
The directorate explained, in its weekly report, that since the beginning of the year until August 21, it had responded to 925 complaints, and carried out 15,124 field investigations, which resulted in the writing of 659 arrest reports.
During the period from August 17 to 21, the directorate responded to 42 complaints and carried out 448 investigations, which resulted in the writing of 20 arrest reports.
It also issued decisions to suspend trading against 25 commercial institutions, after it was proven that their products did not conform to the required specifications, in exchange for allowing 4 institutions to resume trading, after they re-adjusted their products and proved that they conformed to the specifications.
The Directorate indicated that 321 seizure reports targeted electric generators alone, equivalent to 49% of the total 659 seizure reports filed since the beginning of the year.
