Liverpool captain Van Dijk confirmed that Mohamed Salah’s departure from the Reds represents a loss that is difficult to compensate for, stressing that the Egyptian star deserves all the praise after the exceptional years he spent at Anfield.
Van Dijk said about Mohamed Salah in statements reported by the “Anfield Sector” network: “Nothing lasts in life. It is clear that you remember Mohamed Salah well, and he deserves to be remembered because I do not think that Liverpool will be able to compensate him. What he gave to this club is wonderful.”
Regarding Liverpool’s ambitions during this season, he added: “As a leader and a player in this club, I want to compete for the English Premier League title, but we must be realistic. We saw the strength of Arsenal last year, as they have good depth in their squad.”
He concluded: “I feel that we have the necessary capabilities to compete for the English Premier League for sure, but we have to perform much better than we did last year.” (Russia Today)
