US President Donald Trump expanded the scope of his demand from Iran for compensation. He not only responded to Tehran’s demand for compensation for the damage of the recent war, but also held it responsible for the damage and deaths that he said affected the peoples of Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Gaza, placing the issue in the context of negotiations with Iran.

Trump said, in a post on the “Truth Social” platform, that representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran are demanding compensation for the damage caused to Iran during the military conflict that lasted 5 months, considering that the conflict began due to the refusal to allow Iran to possess a nuclear weapon.

He pointed out that the issue of compensation had not been raised in any of the previous negotiations or meetings, describing the idea as “interesting,” before announcing that he, in turn, was demanding compensation from Iran for people he said were killed or seriously injured as a result of roadside bombs and multiple conflicts for which he held Tehran responsible.

Trump linked these files to General Qassem Soleimani, demanding that compensation include the families of those he said were killed aboard the American destroyer USS Cole, in addition to thousands of others he said were killed in battle.

He also demanded compensation for the families of what he described as hundreds of thousands of innocent demonstrators whom he accused Iran of killing during the past 50 years, in addition to the 52,000 people he said were killed during the last 5 months.

Trump confirmed that he had instructed his representatives to firmly include the compensation demand in any and all future negotiations with Iran.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump expanded his position to include the region, saying: “Also regarding negotiations with Iran, Iran should be held responsible for the damage and deaths it has caused to the peoples of Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Gaza.”
