Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam expressed his thanks to US President Donald Trump, and said: “All thanks to US President Donald Trump for allowing American airlines to operate direct flights to Beirut, following his meeting with His Excellency the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun.”
He added: “I confirm the readiness of the Lebanese government to keep pace with all the executive and technical measures required to put this decision into effect as quickly as possible.”
He continued: “This step represents an important opportunity to enhance travel and communication between Lebanon and the United States, and to support the Lebanese economy.”
Salam’s position comes after US President Donald Trump announced, during his meeting with President General Joseph Aoun at the White House, that American airlines would be allowed to operate direct flights to Beirut, in a step that is considered the first of its kind in years, and reflects a trend towards strengthening bilateral relations between Lebanon and the United States.
