Lebanese artist Fadel Shaker is preparing to begin a new phase in his personal and artistic life, after legal and administrative developments that allowed him to regain his Lebanese passport and cancel the travel ban, in a step that may pave the way for his move to reside in the Qatari capital, Doha.

Sources told Sky News Arabia that Shaker intends to leave Lebanon in the coming days for Doha, where he plans to reside permanently, in preparation for applying for Qatari citizenship after completing the official procedures.

According to the sources, Shaker currently resides in the Yarze area in the Baabda district, amid special security measures, as a security team affiliated with the Qatari embassy is responsible for ensuring his protection until he leaves Lebanon.

On the artistic level, Fadel Shaker has finished recording 6 new songs, which are scheduled to be released successively during the coming period, as part of a plan for his return to the Arab singing scene after years of absence.

He is also preparing to perform a concert in Riyadh next September, which is expected to be his first artistic appearance after moving to reside in Qatar.

The information indicated that Shaker suffers from diabetes, and is expected to begin a specialized treatment program upon his arrival in Doha, under the supervision of a medical team monitoring his health condition, in parallel with the resumption of his artistic activity.

These developments come after months of judicial transformations witnessed in Fadel Shaker’s case, as the Lebanese Military Court issued during the last period judicial decisions that contributed to ending a number of pending files against him, which allowed him to regain his civil rights, most notably obtaining a Lebanese passport and canceling the travel ban.

Fadel Shaker’s file constituted one of the most controversial files in Lebanon over the past years, after his name was linked to the Abra events in 2013, before his judicial process witnessed successive developments that ended with the dropping of a number of accusations and his acquittal of some, while his prosecution continued in other files before they were successively closed according to judicial rulings.

On the other hand, Shaker maintained his artistic presence throughout the years of his absence by releasing musical works that achieved high viewership rates across digital platforms, while his fans remained awaiting his official return to Arab concerts and festivals.

His potential move to Doha, if completed, is seen as a new station in his personal and artistic career, which may open the door to a full return to singing activity in the region.
