The Director General of the Lebanese Civil Defense, Brigadier General Imad Khuraish, received the United Nations mission to assess the human rights situation following the recent hostilities in Lebanon, where the humanitarian and relief missions carried out by the Directorate’s teams during the period of aggression were presented.

The Department of Information and Public Relations at the General Directorate of Lebanese Civil Defense stated, in a statement, that the mission listened to a presentation made by Khraish about the nature of the directorate’s work during that period, and the responses that its teams implemented in various regions to protect civilians and provide assistance to those affected.

The mission also reviewed the data and facts related to the attacks that targeted civil defense centers, its mechanisms, and its members while performing their humanitarian duty, in addition to the human and material damage caused by these attacks.

Khraish confirmed that the General Directorate of Civil Defense continued to carry out its humanitarian and relief missions throughout the period of the aggression, and did not stop responding to citizens’ calls, despite the attacks that targeted its centers, mechanisms, and members.

He stressed that the civil defense teams’ continuation of performing their duties stems from their humanitarian and national mission of protecting lives and providing assistance to those in need, regardless of the challenges and risks.
