This evening, the Iranian News Agency “IRNA” reported that 4 explosions were heard in the eastern city of Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, while indicating that the official authorities have not yet determined the nature of these explosions.
The agency stated that Iranian air defenses were activated in Bandar Abbas, according to what was reported by the “Tasnim” agency, coinciding with a state of alert in the region.
On the other hand, Iranian television reported that no explosions had been reported in Bandar Abbas or any other areas in the south of the country until this moment, which reflects conflicting accounts regarding what happened.
This comes in light of the continuing military escalation between the United States and Iran, after Washington announced the implementation of new waves of strikes on targets inside Iranian territory, while Tehran responded by targeting American sites and bases in the region. These developments also coincide with the escalation of tension in the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz, which constitutes one of the most important sea lanes for transporting oil globally, amid fears of a widening scope of the confrontation and its repercussions on the security of navigation and international energy supplies.
