The escalation between the United States and Iran entered a new round, after Iranian television announced, today, Monday, the interception and destruction of an American “Lucas” drone in the airspace of the city of Bandar Abbas, near Hajiabad, in the south of the country.

Iranian television explained that the operation to shoot down the drone came within the framework of confronting the attacks and ensuring the security of the airspace, noting that air defense units in the southeastern region were able to monitor and intercept it before it was destroyed.

He stressed that the Army Air Defense Forces, along with other armed units, continue to maintain full readiness to secure the airspace of southern Iran, with continuous monitoring of any movements or potential threats.

At dawn on Monday, the Iranian army announced the implementation of a new round of drone attacks, in response to repeated American attacks, which it described as “illegal” on Iranian territory.

The army said, in a statement, that the attacks targeted US force centers, air defense and missile systems, in addition to shelters and logistical support hangars in Kuwait.

This comes after the US Central Command announced, on Sunday night, that its forces had begun carrying out more strikes against Iran.

The American strikes targeted the ports of Chabahar and Bandar Abbas, which are considered strategic ports in Iran, in addition to Bushehr Governorate.
