This update comes within a series of improvements that the company revealed during the Google I/O 2026 conference, which included redesigning the “Gemini Live” experience, adding new voices, in addition to enhancing the integration between text and voice conversations.
Under the new update, Gemini Live is able to benefit from information derived from previous conversations, in addition to some data coming from applications linked to the service, which helps provide more accurate and appropriate responses to the user.
Google confirmed that this feature depends on the permissions that the user pre-specifies when using “Gemini,” which means that access to personal data remains subject to the privacy settings that the user chooses himself.
The company has also expanded Gemini Live’s integration with a range of different applications and services, as it can now benefit from services such as YouTube and productivity tools within the Google Workspace suite, in addition to the capabilities of creating images and other services during conversations.
Observers believe that this step enhances Gemini Life’s ability to compete with other smart assistants, by providing a more integrated and continuous experience, so that the user does not have to re-explain his interests or preferences every time he starts a new conversation.
Google explained that the system is now able to remember some of the details that the user shares across multiple sessions, such as eating habits, important family events, and favorite hobbies, which allows providing answers that are more relevant to the user’s personal context.
Although the feature has begun to be rolled out in English, some personal intelligence settings pages on the Android system indicate that memory support within “Gemini Live” is still being expanded, with it gradually reaching more users and markets during the coming period.
It is expected that this addition will contribute to enhancing the integration between “Gemini Live” and the main chat experience in “Gemini”, thus supporting Google’s move towards developing smart assistants that are more understanding of context and more capable of continuous interaction with users.
