Google announced the launch of a new update to the Google Messages application on the Android system, which includes a new feature called “Tap to Draft,” which aims to reduce errors resulting from unintentional sending of messages via smart replies.

According to the update, clicking on one of the suggestions will no longer lead to sending the message directly, but rather the text will be inserted into the writing box as a draft that can be modified before sending, which gives the user greater control and reduces embarrassing errors.

Previously, the smart responses feature relied on sending a response immediately after clicking on the suggestion, which caused complaints from some users due to sending unintended messages.

Google also provided two settings options: “Tap to Draft” to create an editable draft, and “Tap to Send” for immediate sending, while the default option upon installation remains direct sending, provided that the user changes it manually if he wishes to use the new feature.

The update is expected to contribute to improving the daily use experience by combining the speed of suggested responses and providing a higher level of accuracy and security in sending messages.
