Google announced the launch of a new and advanced security mechanism in the Chrome browser, aiming to protect users from stealing “browsing session” attacks, which is one of the common means that hackers resort to bypassing the two-factor authentication feature and hacking into accounts.

The new technology relies on linking session “cookies” to the user’s own device in a documented manner, which prevents hackers from taking advantage of them if they succeed in stealing them via malware. Through this step, cookies become useless once they are transferred or attempted to run on any other device, which significantly increases digital security levels.

Through this important update, Google seeks to close a critical security vulnerability that has long been exploited by hacking groups to access sensitive accounts and banking data without the need to know the password, providing enhanced protection and a safer browsing experience for millions around the world.
