A graduation ceremony for children in a Catholic school in the US state of Ohio witnessed chaotic and frightening moments, after a violent quarrel broke out between a number of families over a dispute over seats, which led to the injury of one woman and the arrest of another.

According to what was reported by the New York Post, the problem began after a family reserved several rows of seats inside the hall, before Jessica Anderson, 28 years old, got into an argument with parents who tried to sit in those seats.

Craig Mayes, the father of one of the children graduating from the city of Toledo, said that he tried to calm the atmosphere, but he was assaulted by a number of Anderson family members, while a circulating video showed several people beating him while he was lying on the ground.

The chaos escalated after Mayes’ former partner intervened, as Anderson appeared to grab her by the hair in the middle of a violent fight, which led to the woman being injured and taken to the hospital, where she underwent medical stitches.

Police arrested Anderson and charged her with aggravated criminal assault.

During the incident, the children were training for graduation ceremonies in another room, while the school administration confirmed that all students were safe and that activities continued normally.
