The British station “Radio Caroline” sparked widespread controversy after it mistakenly broadcast news reporting the death of the British monarch, King Charles III, before it stopped broadcasting for about 15 minutes and returned later to apologize and explain what happened.
According to the Independent newspaper, the station attributed the incident to a “technical error,” explaining that a pre-recorded program covering the king’s death was inadvertently played during the live broadcast.
Following the incident, the station’s CEO, Peter Moore, issued an official apology to King Charles III and to listeners via social media, stressing that what happened was unintentional.
The false news sparked widespread interaction on social media platforms, especially in light of the continuous monitoring of the British King’s health status, after he announced that he had cancer in February 2024 and has since undergone a treatment program.
King Charles III ascended the throne on September 8, 2022, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, who ruled Britain for more than 70 years, while his official coronation ceremony was held on May 6, 2023 inside Westminster Abbey in London.
Despite the concerns that have been raised about his health condition over the past months, Charles recently confirmed that his health condition is witnessing “gradual improvement,” indicating that he is now on the “better side” of his treatment and recovery journey.
